Critical Factors Influencing the Performance of Highway Projects: An Empirical Evaluation

Highway construction projects have always suffered from cost overruns due to extended project delivery, causing a loss of public funds. Since highways are the backbone nation, purpose this study is measure criticality factors that influence performance highway projects. A survey instrument was prepared and distributed 185 managers. To achieve aim study, exploratory factor analysis used standard loading criteria criticality. From analysis, it identified were grouped under four categories: (a) Execution constraints (b) Operational factors, (c) Stakeholder political constraints, (d) Design Constraints. Further, concluded complexity sub-contractor’s performance, frequent modification in alignment, design, loopholes safety, ambiguities specifications main impact Therefore, recommended develop an efficient planning methodology which continuum management skills tacit knowledge managing site operates efficiently.
